The Old Lady…. A smile might make someone more likable, but research shows it doesn’t make them genuine. My Grandma used to say you can tell the difference between a crook and an honest person in the same way you tell the difference between a crocodile and an alligator. The crocodile and the crook have a toothier grin. I remembered her words recently while reading Facebook posts from the candidate for mayor of Winlock Washington. Back in the Age of Sail, pirates liked to design their own flags. Often, they presented solid black backgrounds with white skulls sewed onto them. The purpose was simple: They were scary. While it seems obvious that the skulls represented death, something else was at work, too. There is something uncanny about a grinning skull. Research conducted by the University of Minnesota in 2017 indicated that big, toothy, V-shaped grins are considered the creepiest. This big smile is the closest approximation to the horrible rictus on your typical skull.
We have reached out to both candidates for coments and niether one have shown any interest in revealing whet they will do for the city of Winlock.
“In response to the silence we will be filling the gap here with past failures”
The candidate known as “Grandma” running for office seems to get overly agitated and defensive when faced with simple questions. Similarly, the previous candidate, nicknamed “Fake America Lunsford,” has apparently shifted her voters to Grandma’s side. Her insistence on private meetings or phone calls only feels unusual for someone aiming for public office and raises concerns about possible corruption even before any votes are cast.
November 5th is approaching quickly—who will you choose to lead your city into the next year? Will it be a Democrat or a Republican? Interestingly, both parties have decided to run as independents, which might backfire if they lack a clear platform for business, whether local or regional.
On the right, you can see Grandma playing the role of a “Karen” as the drama unfolds, taking aim at local and regional businesses simultaneously. She decided to criticize our news about two business models featured in our Business Directory, while refusing to answer any questions on her own page, where we initially approached her. She insists on only speaking to those who call her or meet her on a street corner in front of the newspaper office. This is a public venue, not a Chinese gulag.
This is not the first time reporting by the Lewis County News has been called into question. A December 2024 copy of the Lewis County News contains a report critical of the city’s budget decisions, specifically highlighting debt incurred over two years. The report also mentioned what it called “unforeseen” legal fees from a lawsuit against city residents, calling the city’s appeal of the loss “deliberate”.
The controversy highlights a tense relationship between Winlock city leadership and a local publication, with the mayor publicly challenging the reporter’s integrity and the paper’s journalistic standards.

(NOTE: We have contacted every candidate in one way or another even offering the City of Winlock mayor Brandon Svenson our Facebook page they never responded, they really should reach out)
America Lunsford for Winlock Mayor Aug 1st 2025
Friends, unfortunately I have to announce that due to unexpected personal circumstances, I am suspending my campaign for Winlock mayor. Thank you to those who supported me.
I know the timing, just before the primary, is not ideal, but sometimes life happens on a schedule you can’t anticipate.
I endorse Victoria Marincin, and if I end up winning I would support a write-in campaign for her in the general. This city needs change, desperately, and Victoria seems like a person who could bring it.
“She will still be involved. Is she going to collaborate with Victoria Maricin to establish demonrats influence in this rural city?”
The socialist is out, and questions are being raised about the funds she collected—where are they now, and will she ever be held accountable for any oversight in this matter?
“There can be only one!”
and fake America is not the one…..
Now it’s down to “2 Karens and a Mayor”
Choose wisely……
Events For October
Remember, ActBlue is currently under investigation by the DOJ for potential criminal charges related to fraudulent donations, further exposing the Democrats’ alleged fraud campaign.
So where have her funds gone?
She has been supported by the Democrats and ActBlue all this time.
This election includes several nonpartisan local races—like Winlock City Mayor, but that doesn’t mean they’re not important.
Conservatives need to show up at every level of government.
The concept of using non-partisan ballots is based on the belief that voters should evaluate candidates based on their individual qualifications, policy proposals, and character rather than their party alignment. What if the person has no clue what they are doing? That describes this race….
Another word for a independent in this context is, “Cowards of The County”
None of the candidates seem to have any solutions, unless you’re downtown in their circle, or clique, paying tribute to the “NO Business egg spirit” that has ruled this small rural village for over 80 years.
Three Karens and a Mayor

The 2024 mayoral race featured Democratic-aligned candidates (e.g., “America Lundsford”) backed by ActBlue, while the Lewis County Republican Party did not field a candidate, leaving independents to compete for perceived power.
.
Winlock’s political landscape has been anything but positive since Mayor Don Bradshaw’s departure, with controversies surrounding interim leadership (e.g., Brandon Svenson’s alleged misconduct) creating a power vacuum filled by Democratic efforts ie: the socialists/communist lundford on the ticket.
.
The Lewis County Chair (Republican), who also served as Winlock’s mayor, has now registered as an independent. Currently, we have three Karens and a mayor squabbling over perceived power, but the truth is, the only real influence in this city comes from council members like Jody Curtis and her annual Egg Day Parade. Ultimately, the only thing that will shape Winlock, Washington, next year and beyond is the Egg Day Parade.
No Business will turn this rural community into a NW Ghost town attraction where even the “Haunted Hotel” has been taken down… Unless you are a member of the Egg Day cult and friends with the local usual suspects here who are throwing mud on everything they despise, you are shunned and despised by everyone …
All candidates have decided to run as an independent with no backing at all in other words, a“Coward”
.
Does it really matter where you live if you’re the only one asking questions?
It seems it does if you are only speaking to a small handful of “your people”
There are over 2,500 people who live in the city who could speak up and ask questions about these candidates, yet they’re just scrolling through social media, waiting for someone to ask the tough questions so we will.
They’re too afraid to voice because of local in fighting .. Meanwhile, their is a local news editor who is lurking in the shadows, ready to jump on anyone who dares to speak everyone knows that.
A candidate who only answers questions privately, embodies the very definition of an “opaque” candidate, often referred to as a “ghost candidate.”
This term describes a candidate who avoids public interaction and communication, which can lead to a lack of transparency and understanding of their true intentions or positions People seem to forget the value of tourism.
Winlock can’t remain just a bedroom community forever, surviving on nothing more than a parade. People have tough questions, and no one can answer them…
Winlock School District Director District 2: Taylor Myers, Stevie Bennett, Jarryd Forler
Winlock School District Director District 5: Marty Poirrier II
Winlock Mayor: Jodie Curtis, Victoria Marincin, America Lunsford, Brandon Svenson
Winlock City Council Position 4: Jeramy Allman, Thomas Robinson
Winlock City Council Position 5: Alishia Hornburg
You just can’t make this up in this rural part of hell….
-all are running as mayor or council members-
There are no good men as leaders since Don Bradshaw who was mayor of Winlock, who Resigned Citing Health, ‘Atmosphere of Hate,’ Following No-Confidence Vote…
I was in his office daily, the hate came at him non stop. The local rag editor Lynette Hoffman, evil incarnate, pushed everyone to take him down that’s how Branndon was voted in after she approached me to help take him down….I have text messages from her still about this.. she worked Svenson, now wants him gone and the idiot Karen socialist installed …
It’s about to get real …
