Not a single candidate has mentioned capitalism or its potential impact on Winlock and the surrounding communities. Lawsuit not withstanding, for what? so the trees could be planted. The city loses its future because of those who signed that petition and pushed it through—the same ones who have been hindering growth in Winlock while praising a defunct egg business. When someone like you buys a business and then runs for mayor to protect that business, that’s what they call non-partisan? Not one candidate has discussed what the future could look like for rural Winlock beyond the Egg Day events and the social media activities of local non-profits. Non-profits outnumber for-profit businesses in Washington State, 1 nonprofit for every 140 individuals. The same old strategies won’t work in this “New America,” where millions are leaving the country. You know who they are—those illegals that non-profits worked so hard to support while they sent billions of untaxed monies back to their own countries. The topic of capitalism is being ignored because no one seems capable of addressing it without proper backing, and I don’t mean the commissioners—that’s a whole other game of political maneuvering. The community can benefit, and it starts with the heavy traffic on I-5, Exit 63, and State Route 505. These passing cars could either make or break this city, especially without a solid business structure. Meanwhile, Winlock seems more focused on planting trees and hosting an egg day parade, while billions of dollars are just waiting along I-5.
