The town of Winlock was established on December 27, 1873 and later incorporated on February 28, 1883. In November of 2018 we started Winlock City News dba: Port of Winlock™

MISSION STATEMENT

Winlock is a community known for its pride in the Egg Day parades and the lively, sometimes controversial decisions made at the monthly public council meetings, all covered by the local newspaper, Lewis County News. We just aim to be the ones who address the elephant in the room.

This city has been clinging to a defunct business since the 1940s, missing countless opportunities to progress. We hope local residents and business owners will “Wake Up” from the parade and embrace the next great awakening at Exit 63.

– Welcome to Winlock City News –

We have been in business since 2018, with a simple goal: to support local and regional businesses under our tradenames, Port of Winlock™ and Winlock Industrial Park™.

Update July 2025

On Thursday, June 26, The Chronicle, a trusted local news source, reached out to us, and I confirmed that I’m still managing both winlockcity.com and the associated Facebook pages.

We explained to The Chronicle that my wife and I relocated after the COVID-19 pandemic and an incident involving Lynette Hoffman of the Lewis County News.  Although we no longer live in Winlock, we remain the owners of winlockcity.com, a news and media portal for our business, at portofwinlock.com and winlockindustrialpark.com.

The Chronicle also reached out to us in 2018 when we launched our Online Business Directory Under Name ‘Port of Winlock’ supporting local businesses.

When we first started in 2018, were published our news and media content only after consulting with the city of Winlock Mayor Don Bradshaw. Following his guidance, we wrote several news articles, and his office even reviewed the disclaimer information we use today with the city attorneys.

We wanted to ensure we got everything right. Our news website serves as an alternative to the local paper, Lewis County News. which often criticizes the city, its staff, and its residents. This has led to a very public clash with the local editor.

I may be a news site, but this is also satire, sort of like the Lewis County News.

Since 2018, our website has featured a disclaimer stating that it operates as a parody site. We have consistently stated in every publication, “I am not a public official,” as noted on our website, which also mentions,

“The Port of Winlock is not recognized by the City of Winlock.”

The Facebook page also guides visitors to the disclaimer, which has consistently stated the same information,

“We’re going to have concepts of freedom of speech and parody. People can say what they want if they make it in a parody-type situation,” "

City employee Theda Curry

Great alternative to the local bias unreadable news tabloid. News should be truthful and not used for a personal vendetta. Thank you Port of Winlock for giving us more options.

Here we are, owning the Trada names for the largest shovel-ready industrial site in the entire Pacific Northwest.

Our goal remains the same: to help businesses thrive in Washington State. However, now our domain names and trade names are up for sale.
